June 2025 Newsletter

Introducing our newest development from Faunids Staff: The Community Newsletter!

These newsletters will generally be posted sometime during the last week of each month.

The purpose of these newsletters is to keep our community informed about site updates, upcoming events, official artist commission openings, new user guides, highlight different bits and pieces of our species, and build on community engagement.

Thank you to everyone who filled out our newsletter feedback form. The content of these newsletters will vary by month. The focus of June's newsletter is to introduce the concept on our host website with the types of information you might see here so we can continue to build on this in upcoming months.

Atalav.com Updates:

  • Avestriches have had a new image added (made by Necrologia)!
  • Many plants from the previous website have been transferred onto the new Flora and Fauna page
  • Most Fauna have had their descriptions and information updated.
  • Shadowcats have a new main image.
  • Some new animals have been added!
  • Most Location pages have had lore updates and additional information added
  • A "Faun Re-reference Guidelines" page has been started but is incomplete.
  • Fixed a misaligned form on the fawning page
  • Fixed typo on Vinnde world page
  • Added Customs page for ModernBeatnik, Necro, and Goryteeth.

Upcoming Plans:

We have made a change in the dropdown system on [ATALAV]. There are now two dropdown menus. ‘World Lore’ now includes all informational pages about the universe that Faunids live in (such as geography, the Cervidic runes system, flora & fauna). The second dropdown menu, ‘About Faunids’, includes information specific to Faunids (such as Faunid subspecies, corruption, and body modifications).

We plan to work on several guides that our users can use as they develop their Faunids as characters. Some of those guides include: Ear cropping, shaving/trimming, and freeze branding. These guides will be introduced over time and, when finished, will be announced in our monthly newsletter.

---------------------------------

Artist Commission Statuses:

Goryteeth will be opening for commission in July.

Necrologia MAY open for 2-3 commissions in the latter half of July.

Deertush will open for single view cutesy comms in July.

Please wait for official announcements before sending commission requests to artists!

Faunids.com Updates:

To sign up for a Faunids account, message Tech (becomelost on Discord) or Jack (jaquiri on Discord) for an invite code. Once you have that, you can register on the sign-up page.

You can trade Faunids on-site without needing a staff member! As long as the user you're trading with has a Faunids username, you can follow this guide to transfer characters:

Trait Feature:

You may have noticed that most traits have images on the trait masterlist. These aren't just for show! Trait images are guidelines that show how small or short (green) and tall or long (blue) that trait can generally be. You can use this to help you with your age-ups and re-references.

This month’s trait is Feather Mohawk vs Feather Hair vs Hair (Feathered) vs Hair!

Feather mohawk is a light and fluffy hair-like trait comprised of downy feathers. It is always fluffy unless slicked back with product. It does not reach shoulder length.

Feather hair is a relatively new trait to our never ending list of possibilities. It is “hair” fully composed of long and flexible feathers. There is no actual hair or fur in this trait. The feathers in this trait are not downy and must appear like full feathers.

Hair (Feathered) acts and behaves just like the Hair trait. However, multiple feathers are visible hidden amongst the hair. Feathers cannot make up the majority of this trait.

Hair is simply hair. A long type of fur that originates from the top of the head.

Here are some faunids that showcase these traits to current guideline standards!

My favorite summer activity would have to be the fact that I'm off of work. I get to wake up, enjoy a cup of coffee and do art. Im also home alone, which is a rarity during the work 'year'. It's peaceful, I get chores & commissions done! Makes me feel productive but peaceful.

Excited to see the traits vs traits in the future. I think it's a great idea to clear up any potential confusion.

My favorite activity for the summer is getting to go outside more with Alice and Ammo my pups. They're older so it's shorter distances to walk but they love it and I love seeing them act like puppies again when they get to the creek or their little pool outside.

My favorite summer activity is going out to get ice cream and being annoyed with how quickly it melts. There are so many flavors to try. I also like swimming, however I rarely get to do that. I also really love seeing the flowers that grow in summer. I just love summer, aside from the sweat, that part is my LEAST favorite.

My favorite summer activity is going back to my hometown to watch the best fireworks show in my life (still to this day!) and I haven't been able to for several years until I moved back in state so this summer will be extra special ! :>
